We laugh, but the division of extremely small, extremely low-stakes items is genuinely a thing in high-conflict coparenting. Whose jacket is this? Did it come from your house? Why is the water bottle missing a lid?
Everything becomes evidence. Everything becomes a negotiation. Everything becomes a potential grievance.
At some point you have to ask: is this about the sock? Or is the sock just easier to fight about than the actual feelings?
