There's a version of family court behavior that is, clinically speaking, identical to what happens when a toddler doesn't get the snack they asked for.
Fists clenched. On the floor. Making sounds distressing to witnesses. Refusing to accept the ruling.
The other parent: sipping coffee. Unbothered. Because they've seen this before. Many times.
Emotional regulation is a parenting skill. It's also a coparenting skill. And a courtroom skill. And a life skill. And some of us are still working on it.
